Our 3rd, 4th and 5th graders partcipated, with their English teachers and school staff, to this amazing event that allowed them to live the Gold Rush and the Revolution, which are taught in class as part of the Social Studies program.

The event was fun and sent strong messages about US history!

On Wednesday, January 12th, our West Valley Campus had the privilege of a very official visit.

We had the pleasure to meet with - from the French Consulat in Los Angeles - David Martinon Consul General,
Jean-Christophe Harel Cultural Attaché, Jean-Claude ZAMBELLI représentant - Union des Français de l’étranger, and - from France - the sénateur Louis Duvernois représentant les Français établis hors de France.

Mr. Duvernois visited our classrooms and talked to our students who were not shy telling him about the books they were reading or the stories they were studying in class, and who, sang the Marseillaise and the Star Spangled Banner!

Here are some picture of this event:

As a part of our school's goal to inspire students with exposure to different types of art, the project "Artiste en Residence" had one very special artist  to come to LILA.

Hervé Tullet's albums have been studied in our classrooms and Monday, he personaly presented and interpreted these albums to all our students. The visit was a blast!

Please see more information posted on the blog of our head of school.

An opportunity, offered by a wonderful team of parents, to get together, and sample some wine and cheese!

Edouard, Schmidtlin (Ella, Pre-K), after the event, wrote:

"I wanted to congratulate you again for the soiree Pain Vin Fromage
You have managed to turn a schoolroom into a top rated gourmet restaurant, fantastique!"

Indeed, this was fantastic!

By the way, the wine served were:

Whites:
Qupe 2009 Bien Nacido Cuvee
Urban 2009 Torrontes

Reds:
Ancient Block 2008 Red
Delas 2008 Cotes De Rhones (magnum)
Chateau Pitray 2001. Bordeaux red wine.

Thank you.
